Prevention is the best medicine

until prevention of something that

doesn’t exist

is regarded as a waste of time-


what happened to prevention

when you called her an attention-seeker

and what happened to prevention

when you told her she was a him?


What happened to prevention

when you cried at the funeral

of the one you told to die,

and what happened to prevention

when you told her she needed to do more

when she already did too much?


What happened to prevention

when he begged and pleaded but you ignored,

and what happened to prevention

when all of the people you lost

are the ones you only claimed to love

when convenience made it easy?
