The leaves are green

and the grass is melancholy;

the sky glows

a subtle violet

as the sun begins to set

for the very last time.

I will miss this,

I never wanted to leave

but I suppose this next chapter’s beginning

is much too enthralling to refuse-

they say that this world is full of the ethereal

and as I gaze outside at the golden brown cones

and the shimmering rocks

I smile and sigh

and throw the white covers over my head

so I can avoid this reality

just one more time.
