Sometimes it's best to externalize

and let the ego go,

it is better to be

a woman of mystery

with eyes of nothing

and an acidic pit for a stomach

than to feel

or perceive

oneself-

than to admit

the stomach digests

and you have the human functions

they built you with,

than to show the nourishment you need

or the salt that drips down your face-

you are the self,

but you are not

a whole

only a collection of parts,

sometimes counting the lightbulbs

and pretending that you cannot see

or hear their warnings

is easier than admitting

you ignore them.
