"how to love yourself"

Imagine losing the one thing

that others loved about you-

strand by strand

your identity unravels

and your pretense of acceptance

falls apart.

You must start from scratch

and shape your sense of self,

mold it from a lump of clay

into an aphrodite-esque sculpture,

you must remind yourself

that you are not a balance beam

dependent on one thing

to stay on top

but instead you are a culmination

of all of the things

you love

and all of the things

you are.
