Can you see me?

Do you hear me?

I am buried seven feet

under the soil that coats my body

and bones

until I

decompose

and return to the stars that captured my lungs

as I held my breath-

are you there?

I can only hope this is not in vain,

I can only hope that another will see

me

as a warning, a caution, a protector.

They loved me until I faded away,

they loved me until I became more burden than brethren.
