"a human nature"

The dust of the galaxies forms us

so we capture

the moment we formed-

a bit of sea in our eyes

and stars in our veins,

sun in our faces

and the void in our minds;

we are the universe-

our crowns sit

on the bodies and souls that rest

on the throne of the stars

because we are royalty

when we rule our own;

we need no subjects

to sift the sand

and shape the way the waters turn

in a way we are gods

although at least a god would be

sensible-

a god wouldn’t be ruthless

but we are gods with a special kind of nature-

a human nature,

the nature

that ruins everything.
