The flesh that encases my vessel

should never be

the end all be all

yet we fail to consider

what it truly represents;

it determines our social status

and our friends,

it tells stories of our lives

like the painted canvas

of us

yet sometimes we are ostracized, criticized,

told to go back

or to never come.

Is our skin truly a limitation

or can this construct be reversed?

A soul overlooked,

a flesh unaccepted-

which one am I?
