The woman whose face stares back at me from the ripples

begins to speak:

you think too much

and so that may be true;

I consider millions of possibilities

and am, in my own way, a sort of universal algorithm

and I try force the roses to bloom in my mind

and I wish I were a star so I had more perspective

but the truth is that I am not in control

and fate will take its own course

and the fear that sparks is greater

than any love for life

that I could have

so although I enjoy this existence

I believe that soon

the Earth will shatter

and we will fall away

and fade like glowing orbs

in the daytime

but at least the sun hasn’t faded yet.
